Sublette County is currently accepting applications for the following position: County Health Officer

Job Type: This is a 4-year, contracted position.

Pay: $16,000 Annually

Description: County Health Officers in Wyoming shall be under the direction and supervision of the state department of health, and the state department of health shall have authority to make such rules and regulations for the government and direction of said county health officers as in their judgment may be best suited to maintain the public health, pursuant to W.S § 35-1-227.

Major Areas of Responsibility and Performance:

Essential Duties:

Advocates and supports immunization standards.
Promotes and ensures enforcement of appropriate state statutes and county regulations.
Keeps current regarding aspects of public health and works with the local public health office to ensure the dissemination of informational updates to the medical community, the media, and the public.
Causes the investigation of health problems and health hazards in the community.
Provides technical and professional information to Sublette County Public Health, the State Health Inspector, and other related programs in the county.
Monitors health status to identify and address community health problems.
Follows trends of communicable disease in the county: nearby geographic areas; statewide; and to some extent, throughout the country.
The County Health Officer advises the Wyoming Department of Health in a timely manner regarding disease clusters, outbreaks and investigations of all public health threats or potential threats.
Is available as a resource to public school administrators & nurses, County Commissioners, city officials, and others in decision-making roles concerning health measures.
Is available to work with agencies dealing in public health, remotely or in-person. Contracted by the Wyoming Department of Health for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program. Completes deliverables within annual PHEP contract (see attached document for list of current contracted deliverables).
Makes public announcements and appearances in public forums to support, explain and advance public health goals. Coordinates with other governmental, semi-governmental (fair boards, rodeo boards) and non-governmental agencies (ie: Brewfest, Pinedale Arts Council) to promote compliance with public health concerns.
May participate in the development of written policies and procedures.
Provides general supervision of WDH guidelines and physician approved orders and protocols under the direction of the State Health Officer.
Works with local Sublette County Public Health Nurse Manager & PHRC in program areas. Meets with staff, attends exercises, and submits progress reports as per contract.
Attend monthly CHO state level calls and trainings (as required).

Other Duties: Performs related duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:

The county health officer shall have a degree of doctor of medicine, be an advanced practice registered nurse, or be a physician assistant
Preference given to providers with experience in the public health field. Preference given to providers with previous ICS training and experience.
Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Wyoming and have active DEA/NPI/DUNS numbers.

Regulation and policies related to medical practice
National and state trends relating to medical treatment and public health issues
Ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional standards
Federal and State laws

Communicates with medical professionals and experts in multiple fields
Comprehend scientific and technical information and the ability to communicate this with policy makers, County Commissioners, technical and scientific experts, and the public.
Apply medical knowledge to the delivery of public health services.
